Portrait sessions are about more than just standing in front of a camera — they’re meant to create images with purpose and intention. From engagements and anniversaries to professional headshots or simply updating your family’s gallery wall, these sessions are flexible and uniquely designed around your needs. No two sessions are alike, because no two clients are alike.
When working with me, you can expect personalized guidance to make planning easy and enjoyable. I am happy to help with selecting a location that brings your vision to life, give feedback on outfit selections, make recommendations for professional hair and makeup, and provide any more assistance or advice you may need. On the day of our session, I’ll offer relaxed direction that balances natural interaction with subtle posing, so you feel comfortable and at ease throughout.
Afterward, you’ll receive a carefully curated proof gallery of your best images, giving you the freedom to choose all of your favorites. Alongside digital images, I also offer access to heirloom-quality prints, albums, and products – ensuring your portraits aren’t just filed away in the depths of your phone, but displayed, shared, and enjoyed for years to come.
Timing for your session depends on a variety of factors – season, location, and participants involved, to name a few. For example: if you want that soft, glowy "golden hour" light, we'll want to schedule about one hour prior to sunset. However, if you know your kids are happier in the morning instead of right before bedtime, we may want to plan around that instead. Or, when doing an in-home session, we'll pay attention to when the light is brightest in the room(s) you would like to use and take that into consideration too.
As for locations, if not somewhere personal to your own story (i.e. your home, a favorite date spot, etc.), I would be happy to make some recommendations based on the aesthetic you're looking for! From fields and mountains to historic downtown settings, Virginia has many beautiful spots to choose from.
Anything within 50 miles of Remington, VA is considered my local range and does not require a travel fee. If your home or the location you would like to use is outside of my local range, let me know and I will give you a customized quote for travel. Also note that some locations require a permit fee to use the grounds – I'll provide more information on that, if necessary!
We'll keep an eye on the weather the week of your session, and usually wait until the day before (or even the day of) to make an official rain call. Your flexibility is greatly appreciated, as the forecast continually changes the closer we get! I don't mind cloudy skies or even a little drizzle, but this is something we simply need to play by ear depending on your own unique session plans and comfort. There is no fee to reschedule due to inclement weather.
One word: absolutely!! “Family” in my mind includes the fur babies too! Keep in mind that when including doggos in an outdoor session, we'll need to have a third party with us to help get their attention and hold onto them whenever they need a break.
I do very minimal retouching because I strongly believe photos are meant to be a reflection of our true selves. That said, I do have a "two week rule" – if there's a blemish that would be gone in two weeks or less (i.e. a pimple, scratch, or bruise), removing that is part of my final editing for any images you choose!
Of course! When you receive your final gallery of edited images, you will be able to either order professional quality prints through the gallery or download the images and print them at a lab of your choice. I do recommend ordering through the gallery so I can ensure your receive the best quality print(s), but my clients love having the option to do whichever works best for them.

Thoughtful client reviews keep my small business thriving! It would mean the world to me if you take the time to leave a review after working with me.
Following selection of your favorites, your final, fully retouched high-resolution images arrive in a beautiful online gallery within 2-6 weeks.
Within one week of your session date, you will receive a gallery of watermarked, lightly edited images to choose from.
Particularly for families, my client guide goes over a lot of advice on how to best prepare for your session – especially for your kids. Bottom line, stay positive and be excited! We're going to have a great time!
After your retainer and contract, the planning begins! I will send recommendations for hair & makeup, locations, and other ways you can prepare for your session.
The most popular option for couples or families who would like to enjoy multiple settings, a wide variety of groupings and poses, and perhaps even an outfit change. Retainer fee $200, images purchased separately. Inquire for package prices.

Small but mighty! Mini sessions are 15 minutes long and already include 5 images of your choice from a proof gallery, with the option to purchase more. Must take place on a Wednesday or Thursday.

She’s a highly creative person with a personal vision for each photo shoot,
(I am not normally a crier). The photos are beyond beautiful. She captured more than just a moment; she captured emotions and feelings. The love between my husband and I, the love we have for our baby and the love we share as a family all beautifully showcased in her photos.
The photos made me so emotional that they brought me to happy tears
